Whether it’s a festival banner, a company flag, a school flag, or a championship flag, flags have always been raised as symbols to express prestige.At festivals, ceremonies, and celebrations, flags are raised at significant moments, and each time they are displayed, there is always a story or sentiment that has led to that point.
We aim to create dignified and proud flags that capture these emotions.
At KatouKen Flag Shop, we use genuine craftsmanship by skilled artisans to create flags through weaving, embroidery, and dyeing.
Design

Self-Designed
- Submit your design proposal in electronic data formats such as Illustrator, PDF, Word, or Excel. (We will consult with you on details such as the desired size, fabric texture, colors, and finishing methods.)
- We will fine-tune the design to create the optimal layout for the flag, and you will be able to review the proposal. (Even designs that only include logos or text are acceptable. Revisions can be made as many times as necessary until you are satisfied.)
- We will propose the most suitable options from a variety of fabrics, dyeing methods, and types of embroidery.
Design Consultation
- We will inquire about your desired design and purpose via email.
- We will propose fabrics, dyeing methods, embroidery techniques, and the optimal layout for the flag that meet your requirements.
- Review of the design proposal (Revisions can be made as many times as necessary until you are satisfied).
Major Achievements

Kyoto Municipal Omiya Elementary School
This is the newly crafted school flag created for the 100th anniversary project of Kyoto Municipal Omiya Elementary School.
At the center of the fabric, which is woven with threads dyed from scratch, the school emblem, embroidered entirely by hand with raised stitching, shines brilliantly.
The fringe is crafted by artisans using a double shippou braid, expressing a sense of dignity within its simple design.
Additionally, the flagpole is made from the finest green shell with detailed engraved metal fittings, and the custom-made finial at the tip is finished in a deep, rich color with a weighty feel.
nexco-west-japan
This is the company flag for NEXCO West Japan.
It is made from Exlan fabric and dyed using traditional methods. The gradient sections are also carefully expressed with authentic dyeing, resulting in a company flag that faithfully represents the requested design while conveying the craftsmanship of the artisans.
Ryukoku University-affiliated Heian High School
This is the school flag of Ryukoku University-affiliated Heian High School.
The fabric is woven using threads that have been specially dyed with highly durable dyes, and the school emblem is crafted with genuine gold hand embroidery. Additionally, the fringe is made from traditionally used colors, with the gold thread intricately intertwined with specially dyed pure silk threads, creating a four-tiered shippou design with firefly accents, resulting in a flag that shines even more brilliantly.
Kosaka, Kuze District, Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture
This is the festival banner and town name flag of Kosaka, Kuze District, Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture.
The town name flag is made of fabric woven with specially dyed threads in carefully selected colors. The town emblem and name are expressed with fully hand-embroidered details. The reverse side features a solid single weave with the town emblem woven into the fabric, and a gradient dye technique that creates a blurred effect.
Additionally, the festival banner uses a solid single weave with a scattered cloud pattern woven into the background, dyed brown, and the text is expressed with full hand embroidery.

It is possible to combine dyeing and embroidery, rather than expressing everything through embroidery.

Dyed Flags
Dyed flags serve the role of being hoisted to signify presence and can express a wide range of designs, from simple to complex. They are also used when there is a need to reduce costs compared to embroidered flags.

Deciding on Product Details
Choosing the Product and Fabric
Please select the type of product you wish to order (flag, noren, happi coat) and the fabric (linen, cotton, synthetic, etc.).If you are unsure which fabric is best, we can provide suggestions based on the intended use, so feel free to consult with us.
Finalizing the Design
Decide on the shape, dyeing method, color, text, and finishing method.
We will consult with you on revisions until you are fully satisfied.
Specifying the Size
Decide on the final size. If you are unsure, please contact us.

Quotation
Once your order is finalized, please notify us via email.
Based on the details of your order, we will calculate the price and delivery time and get back to you.
We will also send a rough draft of the design at a reduced size via email. If everything is correct, please confirm your order by email.

Order Confirmation & Production
Once your order is confirmed, we will begin production of the product.
Depending on the product, it may take about 2 weeks to 1 month to complete.
Please note that after this point, a cancellation fee will apply if the order is canceled for customer convenience.

Shipping & Payment
Once the product is completed, we will contact you by email and then ship the product.
After receiving the product, please check it and make the payment via bank transfer.
